Building a Healthy Lifestyle:Eat your fruits and veggies

The USDA used to recommend 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. Now it’s more like 7 or 8. If you’re having a tough time fitting them in try these tricks. Have a veggie omelet for breakfast or eat fruit in your cereal or oatmeal. Have raw veggies or fruit as a snack. Put nutrient rich spinach leaves on your sandwich instead of iceberg lettuce, have a V-8, serve a side salad with dinner, add veggies or fruits to pizza and pasta dishes, make fresh fruit salads for dessert. If you want to know what the right amount of veggies and other foods is right for you log onto the USDA site and create a personalized profile.

My change for the week:I’m going to ditch the old iceberg lettuce in favor of spinach.

I love the thought of raw spinach on a sandwich. I am definitely going to try this!!
