Brew Yourself Skinny

Posted by Nikki F.

New trademark Slim Coffee is adding buzz to the coffee biz with its promise to help drinkers shed pounds. In most coffee beverages, even the low-fat, low-sugar varieties are laden with calories that add to the hips—a far cry from the original calorie- and fat-free cup of joe. Slim Coffee claims that it not only doesn’t pack on pounds, but it actually increases your metabolism through its herbal formula of garcinia, chromium, hoodia and green tea extract. The product—available in regular and decaf, brew and instant—is uniting the multi-billion dollar coffee and weight loss markets, and based on a quick Google search appears to have very few competitors.

While new studies found coffee to be a great source of antioxidants, the bitter brown is not conventionally used for weight loss. Slim Coffee says that users can lose up to 2 pounds a week if they consistently follow the plan of drinking the coffee daily, eating healthy and exercising. Whether or not the new brew actually works remains to be seen.

Tagging on to a billion dollar industry is a smart move. The key to this weight loss program is eat healthy and exercise. Hoodia, garcinia and chromium are common ingredients in weight-loss supplements. If anyone really believes in weight-loss supplements, why not just take the supplements and have a decent cup of Joe?
The last diet stronghold is coffee. It doesn?t matter if you do Atkins, South Beach, Suzanne Somers, or the Zone you still get to have it. It's the one thing I don't want to lose. In truth, most weight loss supplements and infomercials will tell you that you have to eat healthy and exercise. So why not save your money for a new wardrobe and do the eat healthy and exercise thing on your own? Then you can lose weight and keep the coffee.
