If you remember my MIL had a visit to the hospital last week after having some chest pain and pressure. Well, she's followed up with her PCP's office this week. She's having a cardiac pacemaker put in, very soon. While I wasn't there to hear what the doctor had to say, it's apparent she needs it to keep her pulse going at a appropriate rate. From what I understand, her pulse was slightly slow to begin with as a super-morbidly obese woman, and now, more than a hundred pounds lighter, it's dropped dangerously low. It's said that with continued weight loss, her pulse could drop lower, and that isn't really physically possible I think. A normal heartrate at rest is 50-70 BPM's and hers has been in the 40's, and isn't rising appropriately with exercise, either. She'll get news of the surgery soon.
Of course, the first thing she told my husband was that "it's the weight loss surgery, isn't it? I should have never had it." She's dealt with a stricture, a blockage and now this, and she's also losing "slowly" in her estimation. I'll let you know what happens with this.
