blood.

My blood iron levels didn't really change this week, so the hematologist suggests that as long as my hematocrit stays above 30, we will continue infusions every two weeks.  I asked if I could add a chewable iron back to my regimen, she said that it's unlikely to be absorbed well - seeing as the constant state of anemia I'm in - but if I have something I think might do the trick- give it a whirl.  I am.

I am sick of the needles.

Truthfully, I don't like the sick feeling I get after the infusion.

I know that the iron infusions are likely something I am going to deal with for life, but I'd like to avoid them as much as possible until better medical interventions are devised for us altered folk.

I have a hemtocrit level of 33 and a hemoglobin level of 9 is that low enough to need iron infusions. My doctor wanted me to take 700 MG of iron but I am only taking 325 and religiously enough. Yuck. i'm sorry for you situation. I can relate too.
