If you get anxious about your health because you've been overeating and you think there is no way you're going to drop the weight, do you discount your anxiety or do you act constructively to reduce it?
You'll be surprised to learn that being too anxious can lead you to do nothing, take no action, and even turn a blind eye to the whole matter. In fact, if your weight/health makes you too anxious, you might have long ago made sure that a "blind eye" was securely in place. Now when you get health information about obesity and being overweight, you don't even feel anxious. Your blind eye is protecting you from feeling the least bit disturbed about yourself.
If you want to reverse this trend, you'll have to allow some anxiety in--a little at first, and then more and more as you can handle it. Your psychogenic blindness will make way for anxiety in doses you can take.
