Source: ADHD Awareness
Today I'm going to change topics and talk about my son, Logan.  In April 2008 he was diagnosed with ADHD.  Over the years I have done a lot of research on the topic and medications.

My last resort was to turn to medication, and eventually I had to do something to curb his impulsiveness when it came to his safety.  When he started doing things that put him in danger, like trying to jump out of a moving vehicle, it was time for a solution.

He is still currently on medication, but the dosage is small enough that it doesn't affect his eating or sleeping habits.

My biggest concern was his appetite suppression while on the stimulant, so I made sure to have a big breakfast for him before taking his pills.  This has helped to slowly increase his weight.  The medication he is on now hasn't suppressed his appetite any.

I make sure that he's avoiding certain food colorings and I've cut his gluten intake considerably.  I have thought about cutting out all food with gluten.   He gets plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks along with yogurt.  He loves yogurt and fresh fruits as snacks.

It has been a struggle to regulate medications, learn to deal with outbursts, and keep him motivated, but I wouldn't change a thing about it.
