A little peddling takes sedentary, overweight women a long way Peddling an exercise bike for just a few minutes a week can improve cardio respiratory fitness among postmenopausal women who are sedentary or overweight, according to a new research study published in the May 16 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Low fitness is a risk factor for premature mortality, particularly for women with cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases, said researchers who examined the effect of various levels of physical activity on women's fitness.
