A horse is a horse (of course, of course)

Posted Oct 05 2009 10:02pm

Picture 014 I slept in this morning till 9:45… which was really 8:45am Nashville time, but still successfully sleeping in according to my normal routine. The bigger success was that I actually put on my running shoes and went for a run. After several weeks of not doing much of anything, my legs felt like lead but the feeling of getting my blood pumping was worth it. The route ran right along Lake Chatuge and I felt like I had the area to myself: no other pedestrians, little street traffic, just me, some good music and some beautiful scenery. I should also mention that I made a friend on the way back. How cute is that little miniature shetland pony? He let me pet him a little but wouldn’t have any of the grass I tried to feed him. Perhaps I should try to round up some carrots for my next visit…

Picture 003 Speaking of horses…

It rained a little this afternoon, so we decided to head to an Alpine Village about 20 minutes away called Helen. The place is a bit of a tourist trap, but it’s cute for the most part with interesting amusing shops, so I was happy to go. I later enjoyed a delicious  nonfat latte with sugar-free dark chocolate syrup, but the real highlight was a carriage ride with a horse named Samson. I think his small chapeau really captures the German spirit of Helen. ;)

By the time we made it back, the rain had let up and it cooled off enough to make soaking in the outdoor hot tub a real treat. I cooked dinner for everyone (strips of chicken over a bed of farm fresh veggies with a side of rosemary-garlic potatoes… delicious!), we played some games, and here I am now… catching up on emails and doing a little work; loving the peace and quiet mostly. :)

Have a terrific Thursday,

sig
