A Dip or Two Never Hurt Anyone…

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you enjoyed my first “ What I Ate Wednesday ” post.  :)

Last night, I did a double header at the gym – one hour of Body Pump (hello, 50 pounds for squats) and 45 minutes of RPM. My legs felt like jell-o after Body Pump, but I pedalled on through the entire RPM class. I’m always amazed at what my body is capable of.

Plus, I had a little extra motivation to work hard today. I was a snack monster!! I just couldn’t stop munching today! I seriously wish I was preggers  just so I could somewhat justify the extra 8,000 calories I ate. The day started normally with a healthy breakfast:

The Dough Boy love continued with a Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dough Boy. It was my favorite yet. I prepped my oats the night before and into the bowl went:

  • 1/2 cup raw oats
  • 1 TBSP carob powder
  • 2 TBSP chia seeds
  • splash of maple syrup and vanilla
  • pinch of cinnamon and salt
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 3 big strawberries
  • 1/2 sliced banana

Topped with walnuts, cacao nibs, and shredded coconut. It tasted like ice cream. And I love ice cream. Especially for breakfast. Mmmmm.

(I used carob powder to make this child friendly, but you could also sub cocoa powder for a richer chocolatey taste! )

Then we headed to Marbles, the local children’s museum, for some fun. Marbles is a great place for children to play and explore. They have a huge area with imaginative play stations (i.e. firetrucks, cars, grocery store, restaurant, train station).

I could make some mean Dough Boys with those oats….except I prefer organic.

They also have fish, a pirate ship, a splash zone, and an extravagant display called “Moneypalooza” with ball chutes and tunnels.  But my favorite part of the museum are all of the healthy and positive messages that are displayed everywhere:

I love seeing so much emphasis on overall health and well-being in a place that is designed for young children.

All of that playing and chaos (apparently every school in the county had a field trip yesterday), made me hungry. So we went to Roly Poly, a sandwich/wrap place, for lunch. I was a bad blogger and didn’t take pics. But it was a simple veggie wrap. Nothing stellar. If you’ve seen spinach,carrots, cukes, and sprouts before, then you’ve already seen this wrap :)

But when I got home, I was still hungry. Not enough protein I suppose? So I ate not one, but two, Amazeballs .

The only bad thing about these is that you can’t just eat one. It’s impossible!

I then ate the crust off of Carter’s grilled cheese. Why? I don’t know. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time?

After that, I dipped my spoon into this beautiful jar:

One dip turned into two. And then three. I can’t help it! Have you ever tried Cinnamon Raisin Swirl by Peanut Butter & Co ? It’s PHENOMENAL!! I received this jar in the mail from PB & Co and I was thrilled because I LOVE their nut butters. I haven’t eaten one that I didn’t fall in love with. The Cinnamon Raisin Swirl is my fave. I love it in oats, on bananas, on toast, and on spoons (obviously). The taste is perfect, but what I really love is the texture. And I guess the spoon dips weren’t enough because I followed those up with this:

So, as you can see, my two workouts last night were fueled by my intense snacking throughout the day. It certainly provides a little extra motivation to work hard at the gym, but it all balances out in the end. As long as you keep up with a healthy eating plan the majority of the time and continue working out regularly, no harm will be done.

A few dips in the jar won’t hurt you….and should you decide to dip into Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Peanut Butter , your dippage will be oh so glorious.
