As if all the prizes you’ve seen available to you weren’t already amazing, here’s one more set for you to savor and enjoy (and quite possibly WIN!):
Nobody has had a greater impact on behalf of high-fat, low-carb living in the past decade than investigative science journalist Gary Taubes . From his infamous New York Times magazine column in July 2002 entitled “What if It’s All Been a Big Fat Lie?” to his instant-classic September 2007 book release Good Calories Bad Calories , Taubes has blown the lid off of the outright lies and deceptive being perpetrated on the American people about saturated fat, cholesterol, exercise, weight loss and health. The heavy influence of that 600-page masterpiece that should be required reading of every medical school student, doctor, nurse, and dietitian in the world is still being felt in 2010 and will be for a very long time to come. He’s got two brand new books coming in the next couple of years, including a more consumer-friendly version of Good Calories Bad Calories set to release in early 2011 and then a closer look at sugar (which I heard a brief bit about at the recent Seattle conference I attended) coming likely in 2012 sometime. Listen to my previous podcast interviews with Gary here , here , and here and I’ll be having him back on again when his new book is ready for release. FIVE LUCKY READERS will receive a personally autographed copy of Good Calories Bad Calories to own and cherish. If you already own a copy of this book (and you should!), then give away your extra copy to someone you care about if you win!
One of the nicest, most lovable people you will ever meet in the low-carb community is none other than Judy Barnes Baker . I met Judy online several years back when she wrote a fantastic book entitled CARB WARS: Sugar Is The New Fat to share some recipes she came up with so she and her husband could eat healthier. Like I said in my pull quote for the back of her book in February 2007 , this book “accurately depicts livin’ la vida low carb as it really is–a healthy and delicious way to lose weight and revitalize your life forever.” I’ve since had the chance to meet Judy several times in person when she’s joined us on the Annual Low-Carb Cruise the past couple of years as well as at the Seattle conference recently. She’s been hard at work on a very special cookbook project that has had a lot of ups and downs that I’m gonna have her share with you in a podcast interview at some point, but it’s quite the story that you WON’T want to miss hearing about it. In the meantime, TWO LUCKY READERS will win an autographed copy of CARB WARS so you can start making your own delicious low-carb recipes!
One of the best parts of my job is finding out about people who are doing some really extraordinary things to help others who choose to live healthier lives. That aptly describes my friend Stanley Fishman who authored a book entitled Tender Grassfed Meat: Traditional Ways To Cook Healthy Meat . If you’ve ever tried to cook grassfed meats before, then you know what an oxymoron it is to put the word “tender” as a description of it. But Stanley said there’s an art to making it come out that way and he shares all about it in his book. I interviewed him on my podcast show last month and he did a fantastic job of providing some tricks he’s learned through lots of trial and error to make sure your high-quality grassfed beef and other meats are as tender and juicy as they can possibly be. TWO LUCKY READERS will win themselves an autographed copy of this fantastic book that will have your mouth watering for more! Stop cooking your grassfed meats incorrectly and let Stanley show you how to do it well so you can enjoy these healthier cuts of delicious goodness.
Most people who regularly read the “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog already know just how harmful carbohydrates can be both to our weight and our health. But Virginia-based pain specialist Dr. Robert K. Su says that carbohydrates can and will also “kill” you if you consume them without any regard for their impact on your insulin and blood sugar levels. Now that’s some pretty strong language, but he absolutely backs up that claim with documented evidence to support it in his book Carbohydrates Can Kill . I had the distinct privilege of interviewing Dr. Robert Su on my “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” podcast in April 2009 and it was quite the listen hearing this medical professional sing the praises of low-carb living. Listen to it so you can get a feel for how healthy low-carb living changed Dr. Su’s life personally and to learn how he’s now imparting that wisdom he’s learned over the years to his patients dealing with chronic pain. Plus, one exciting development is he’s currently working on creating a radio talk show where he will discuss the positive health benefits of livin’ la vida low-carb over the airwaves. COOL! We need more voices like Dr. Su out there spreading the word about carbohydrate-restriction and I’m pleased to see him doing this. ONE LUCKY READER will win an autographed copy of Carbohydrates Can Kill to learn more about the fabulous work this ambitious doctor is sharing with patients everyday.
And finally, one of the most dynamic nutrition and fitness speakers promoting the message of less carbohydrate consumption and more fat is Kevin Brown from Liberation Wellness. I recently recorded an interview with him that is scheduled to air on my podcast show on June 14, 2010 and you will LOVE what he has to say about healthy living. He had me on his “Liberation Wellness” Radio Show in February 2010 and we had a great time extolling the virtues of high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carb nutrition. Kevin has put together all of his thoughts about healthy nutrition in a fantastic book entitled 5 autographed copies of The Liberation Diet: Setting America Free from the Bondage of Health Misinformation that will blow your socks off and FIVE LUCKY READERS will win an autographed copy of this book. Then THREE LUCKY READERS will be able to take advantage of some Nutritional Counseling with Kevin’s outstanding team of certified nutritionists and wellness educators who understand all the intricacies of what health is REALLY about. Lastly, FIVE LUCKY READERS will win a really neat exercise tool called Flip Fitness using cards to guide your workouts. It’s a novel concept and Kevin personally LOVES this program. Lots of prizes to win from our friends at Liberation Wellness .
That is all the prizes I have available for you now in my 5-Year Blogiversary Giveaway Contest . Tick tock tick tock to get your answers to my 10 survey questions to me firstname.lastname@example.org and I wish everyone well who entered. It’s gonna be so much fun going through all these entries this weekend and I’ll be announcing the winners on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. GOOD LUCK to you all and THANK YOU again for helping me celebrate five glorious years of low-carb blogging.
