10.5 Mile Fitness Run 3/3/12 25K Training Run Week 6 by wm8c at Garmin Connect – Details .

Well what a day for a run this was.  At least we haven’t had the tornado’s that have plagued the south this past week but we had gusts upward of 50 mph last evening with sustained winds of 35 mph.  It had slowed to 20 mph for this mornings run and the temps were moderated just below freezing so it wasn’t terrible  by any stretch I guess.

Today I ran with my younger son and he took it easy on me and ran my pace instead making me run his, not that I could anyway lol!  We have about 6 weeks to go to finish preparing for the 25K in May so I’m hoping my endurance will be much better by then.  I feel fine but I feel like I ran 15 not 10.5 miles.

I see the doctor again in a couple of weeks to see how my blood sugar and cholesterol are doing.  Since I have not dropped back off my Crestor I’m assuming there will be no surprises.  I still worry about arterial blockages or better known as the “widow makers” since I was at the ripe ole’ age of 36 when they found my others and nothing since.  I guess that’s where my Christian faith comes in and knowing that God already has a plan for me and all I can do is make sure that I take care of myself the best I can and trust him to do the rest.

In two weeks is the inaugural 5K for our area know as the Irish Jig.  I have become the defacto captain of our corporate running teams for the past two years now and this year we went from one team of 10 runners to three.  I’m so excited and this should be fun and I can’t wait to see how we do this year.  Last year we were 29th and I’m hoping that at least one of our teams can make top 10 this year so we’ll see.

I’ve lost 6 lbs. since started to drop weight again in January and still have 9 more to go to get to my running weight from last year.  I have time if I can keep dropping a pound a week or so.  I can already feel the difference just on my 3.5 mile runs so I’m hoping that it will translate into a better run than I’ve had these past two months.
