You know those cadences you hear troops marching to in the movies? They’re called “Johnnies” – don’t ask me why. When I was in Air Force Officer Candidate School at Lackland AFB, they actually outlawed them. Apparently, many are considered “politically incorrect” and my delicate female ears were considered too tender to hear them. I was actually disappointed, because it is true drudgery to march in silence. Try making your own Boot Camp/OCS experience by putting marching tunes into your iPod. Try Sousa marches, some old Tennessee Ernie Ford Civil War marches, military band recordings, etc.
