I succeeded in walking for 1 hour on the beach both Saturday and Sunday. I also walked to my Tuesday meeting and walked Tuesday and Thursday night for 30 mintues.

That's great! One thing I need to work on is trying to walk for 15 - 30 mintues after dinner.
That is good news! Walking on sand is supposed to be the most natural and safest -- yet best workout -- of all the possible walking surfaces. Walking several times a week the way you are doing is the key to greater progress!
