I had a gym teacher in grade school who came straight out of military service in Vietnam. He was all shell shocked and scary. One thing he was adamant about was good foot hygiene before gym class. He was constantly making us take off our shoes and socks to check our toenails. He said we had to tell our moms to cut them straight across and keep ‘em clean. You certainly don’t want to encourage foot infections while walking!
So true! It's amazing how your feet can be affected by your shoes and socks while you're walking. When I'm on trips where I know I'll be walking a lot, I keep nail clippers, bandaids, antiseptic cream, etc., just in case. Better safe than sorry, I think.
