If you live in LA or San Fran, you are probably used to the artistic communities where people create their own natural remedies without breaking a sweat. Well, you are not alone. It is simple to create a homemade salve that you can run around and wipe on everyone (or bottle up and sell for profit!)
When you're making a salve, gather up the proper ingredients. Typically, you'll be looking at items like olive oil, beeswax and some sort of a preservative - an easy one to find is Benzoin, at almost any drugstore.
Heat a pint of your oil and add your fresh herbs.
Cover and let cook for 3 hours - on a low heat, obviously.
*Note: It's best with fresh herbs to leave the concoction uncovered for your first 1/2 hour or so
Once completed and cooled, strain your herbs out.
Add 1.5 oz of beeswax.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of your preservative.
Mix it up and pour into pretty packaging. Salve away!
