Salty Beverages May Boost Endurance for Women on The Pill

Posted by Heather J.

Highly trained female cyclists who used the oral contraceptive pill performed better on high-sodium beverages than on low-sodium beverages during the high hormone phase of their cycle, one study suggests. The high-sodium beverages helped them exercise longer by increasing plasma volume, and decreasing thermal strain in the warm experimental conditions. High sodium beverage recommendation: Gatorade Endurance Formula. The pill is also said to have a positive effect on bone mineral density, though research is still unclear.

Salt is good for every athlete. Salt helps my performance in racquetball. According to Salt and Health web site http://www.saltinfo.com: People living in hot countries and those who use a great deal of energy, such as athletes, lose more salt than the average person. This is lost through sweat in such large amounts that they can suffer from muscle cramps and heat exhaustion. Some athletes replenish the body's supply with salt tablets.
Definitely and the best salt you can use is www.himalayancrystalsalt.com as it contains 84 ionic minerals which are critical for our body's functionality. The other thing to look at is when and what you eat. Timing meals and having the right combination of food types in those meals are as important as what you eat. 5 little meals through the day are not only optimal for energy, but metabolism.
