Reviewing Homemade Skin Care Products; Healthy Options of Days Gone By

Posted Apr 03 2011 2:12pm
Natural products are important to me so when Healthy Options of Days Gone By LLC  asked me to sample home made natural skin care products I didn't hesitate to say YES!  I spend a lot on natural skin care products --- These products are very reasonably priced  for almost any budget, REALLY!

I looked at the ingredients.  This family based company uses awesome oils, flowers, beeswax, scents from essential oils and more natural ingredients.  My skin is super dry so I asked for an assortment of products that might help my rough, flaky, dry skin.

The first thing I tried was the Sensitive Skin Soap .  It was OK but didn't relieve my dry itchy skin as much as I hoped.  I also found the oatmeal was in large grains that made it feel scratchy on my skin.   It would have worked better for me if the oatmeal was milled into finer pieces.

The soaps last a lot longer than I expected.  They come in 2 oz sizes for $2 each and small travel sizes for .50 each.  I took some of the small guest soaps on a trip to Texas. This worked perfectly.   This is a great way to sample the different soaps and see which ones turn out to be your favorites.  I really like the Chocolate Lovers Body Soap . It's made with cocoa butter and  cocoa. It made my extra dry skin softer and a bit better moisturized than most cocoa butter soaps. It's useful to help combat inflamed/ irritated skin, like mine.

The Rosemary Morning Body Soap is the perfect wake me up, Rosemary is great for its stimulation on the senses and has antifungal properties. Contains rosemary essential oil and dill weed. Safe for all skin types. I like this one a lot also.

They have a lot of variety for scents such as citrus and vanilla but if you like unscented they offer it as well.
I was impressed with how the products are all really made at home using real ingredients, never any melt and pour soaps.  They have products for babies, pets, dirty gardener hands, extra rough dry hand cream, deet free insect repellent soap, sugar scrubs, body powders, salves and MORE....

I sampled the Tiny Hiney Hand Cream for my extra extra dry rough hands.  My results were not great at first.  It took about a week of using the cream daily and nightly before I noticed the skin looking and feeling better.  This is normal with most natural products because there are no chemicals that plump or make skin "appear" better.  The Tiny Hiney Hand cream is one of my favorites of all creams I've tried in the past 6 months.

I liked the dryer sachet   a lot.  It really freshened my clothes and made the laundry room smell like flowers.  This is not a replacement for fabric softener sheets but your laundry will come out smelling fresh.  The bags will last for about 10 loads of clothes.

Last but not least, my favorite product.... Lemon Drop Lip balm !   This lip balm is made using beeswax, coconut, safflower, and various essential oils. Feels great on my lips and helps chapped dry lips, with a little taste/scent of lemon. Wonderful product for all. Available in Mint, Lemon or Orange.

Their packaging is "green" as well as pretty. Some items are fun to use for wedding favors and are wrapped in a pretty white organza bag.  Some are in tins or glass jars.
