Organic Skin, Body Care and Cosmetics

Posted Oct 22 2008 4:38pm
Women (and men) are you huge readers of product ingredients lists like my pal Erin?

Do you insist on certified organic for your food like she does? If you are like Erin, (and me) you know the chemicals, preservatives, and additives in our food are causing cancer and many other diseases, sometimes fatal. Do you eat organic but still put the things you are trying to avoid on your skin? If so then don't bother with what you eat.

Would you insist on organic for your skin, body care and cosmetics if you knew what the other stuff would do to you? You might have no idea the difference it could make.

Even though Erin has been eating organic food for over 15 years, She never thought much about what she was putting on her skin and body until she learned more about this.

She eats only certified organic and locally grown food and now she uses only certified organic skin care. This is what brought her to these products. First certified organic food, now certified organic skin care products.

All "organic and natural" skin care and mineral make-up products are not created equal. Unless there is an organic certification logo on your product it is not organic. Many mineral make-ups are coated with chemicals (dimethecone) and aluminum.

Make sure you can see a complete ingredients list before you buy any products like this. Without an ingredients lists any claims of natural and organic are not verifiable.

Great resource for learning about products and ingredients is the Environmental Working Group Skin Deep database.

How do your products/ingredients rate?

Why Choose Certified Organic?
The only way customers can be assured that they are purchasing Real Organic products produced without the use of synthetic chemicals and GMO's is to purchase products which have been organically certified with a leading independent certifying body such as the;

Five Benefits of Choosing Certified Organic:
1. Good for the soil
Organic systems rely on a modern and scientific understanding of ecology and soil science, while also depending on traditional methods of crop rotations to ensure fertility and weed and pest control.
2. Good for the environment
Organic systems aim to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources. Organic production aims at all times towards sustainability whilst having best management of the environment and wildlife as a priority.
3. Good for people
Organic based ingredients have been shown in a number of studies to contain more vitamins, nutrients and cancer-fighting antioxidants than non-organic ingredients.
4. No synthetic chemicals
Organic systems prohibit the use of artificial chemicals, pesticides and fertilisers.
5. No GMO's
Certified Organic products are produced without GMOs, which are prohibited in the standards for organic food and farming.
