I Hate Swallowing Pills and Vitamins..

Posted Sep 30 2007 11:48pm 4 Comments

I would like to take vitamins more consistently but I have had a problem swallowing pills ever since I was a little girl. I am OK swallowing the small ones, but I can't swallow those big horse pills. Unfortunately, most multi-vitamins come in "big horse pill" size.

I have taken "spray vitamins," and they are much easier for me, but alas, these haven't caught on in a mainstream way and are only available online or via agents who sell them for a few health companies.

A compromise is to grind up vitamins in the blender when I make a smoothie.

I know how you feel. One of the main reasons that I got involved in my business is because I can get all the vitamins that I need in just a 2 ounce shot a day.
I'm a huge fan of Emergen-C to get your VC. It's a tasty powder form and you drink it with water - even though it's mainstream popular, you can still get it for a reasonable price at Trader Joe's. Just be careful with it because it's an excessive amount - not something you want to take everyday.
Some time back, I was advised to take calcium supplement. And I remember wondering why do these companied compete with each other to make these pills so huge. Blending in a smoothie is a good idea, but does it not taste bitter?
Liquid vitamins are available at health food stores as well. Of course, it depends on what type of vitamin you are looking for the body. If you need a specific type like B1 or B5, then that's a little tough to get in liquid form. Super Nutrition puts out a vitamin that, reportedly, is easy to swallow. I mentioned it here at "Taking vitamins & supplements" few days ago. You can scroll down the page and view it if you like.
