I've been adding cinnamon to my body toddy drink. It tastes wonderful and is a good fit with the other fat burning ingredients.
Cinnamon is available in stick or ground form. It may be tempting to buy the jumbo economy-size container - don't because cinnamon starts to lose it's flavor, smell and nutritional benefits after about 6 months for ground or in about a year for stick form.
There are four main types of cinnamon. Ceylon is considered "true cinnamon" and is what you should look for. Ceylon cinnamon has a slightly richer and sweeter taste. Most of the cinnamon in the U.S. is the less expensive Chinese cassia or Indonesian cinnamon. Ceylon and Chinese cinnamon are often labeled the same. If you want the "true" Ceylon cinnamon Mountain Rose Herbs - Cinnamon (Sweet) Powder Origin- Madagascar is a great online source. I ordered mine from them and was not disappointed.
The Ceylon cinnamon sticks can be ground by using a coffee grinder or cheese grater. The others do not grind well. I don't know if there is any benefit to using whole stick cinnamon or ground.
Again do not buy in bulk unless you know you will use it all within 6 months or if you are using it for holiday crafts like we do!
