Veggie Burger and a Raging Bitch

Posted Nov 07 2010 12:00am
Noooo...I'm not the raging's an actual beer ;)
The weekend is coming to an end and Monday is right around the corner *sigh*. This morning started with a large cup of coffee and getting ready for church.  Dr. Jack, my father-in-law, played in the church band today and they did an awesome job.  It's a perfect fall day in Dothan and we decided to grill veggie burgers outside for lunch.  Most of the time when I tell people that I eat veggie burgers...they automatically assume the burgers "must taste like cardboard"....false!  Veggie burgers come in many flavors....spicy black bean, tomato and basil, garden vegetable, original, etc.  I love that you can add a wide variety of toppings to a burger and end up with a completely different creation each time.  Today's lunch was a grilled Boca original vegan burger topped with ketchup, spicy mustard, Louisiana hot sauce, spinach, slice of red onion and a sliver of avocado.  And what goes best with a burger???  Not fries in this case....but steamed broccoli with melted sharp cheddar cheese.

It was a delicious lunch....very filling but you don't get that "I'm so full...give me a recliner and a remote" feeling.  I know I haven't really "cooked" this weekend but I promise there will be a recipe in tomorrow night's post! So according to Forrest, it's 5 o'clock somewhere.  He paired a Flying Dog Raging Bitch Belgium IPA beer with his veggie burger....

The Raging Bitch IPA is a cross between an American IPA and a Belgium in other words,  it's hoppy with a little hint of Belgium yeast sweetness.  This is Flying Dog's 20th anniversary ale and is "nectar imprisoned in a bottle" (at least that is the description on the label) and it's one of Forrest's it a rating of 9.5 out of 10.  Unfortunately for all you beer lovers, you can't buy this one in Dothan just yet...Forrest brought this back from Highland Package store in Birmingham. I'll keep you posted when/if this beer makes it to LA.  Headed out to enjoy the awesome weather!
