The Whitney: Detroit, MI.

Posted Mar 23 2012 12:51pm

One of Detroit’s most iconic mansions, The Whitney is now a restaurant. For my mother-in-law’s birthday we took her to high tea. You all know how much Carolina and I love high tea after our Mount Nelson experience in Cape Town .

I was not sure what to expect–so I didn’t even think about requesting a vegetarian meal. Thankfully, they were able to accomodate on the spot.

We love our tea around here–they offered a wild berry and earl gray. It was a bit disappointing they didn’t have more of  selection. But, the tea was really tasty!

Excuse the marmelade that I spilled on the tablecloth. You really can’t take me anywhere. Here’s the vegetarian food they whipped up for me. Risotto, Ratatouille, Mac & Cheese and Brushetta.

And, for dessert…cheese cake, chocolate mousse and a chocolate covered strawberry.

The first two courses were soup and scones–which were really tasty. I probably shouldn’t have finished those off, because I couldn’t even finish that bite of cheese cake at the end. Quite a tragedy!

What’s your favorite kind of tea? Have you been to a high-tea…what did you think?
