To go along with my earlier post about peanut butter, overeating and overindulging, I did some of these things tonight at Romeo & Juliet’s Cafe , a tiny little Italian restuarant about which I had heard wonderful things.
I had pizza the first one I had in months that wasn’t made on an Ezekial tortilla. The Pizza alla Verdure with eggplant, mushrooms, garlic, mozzarella and romano was thin, creamy and delicious. I am very picky about eggplant; most restaurants under cook it, making it tough and bitter, but this was literally melted eggplant.
And since I love peanut butter, I had the chocolate peanut butter cake for dessert. I was expecting a very sweet peanut butter filling, almost like frosting, but the layers of chocolate cake were alternated here with a peanut butter cream very subtle and easy to eat. The sweetness instead came from chocolate ganache frosting, my favorite.
While I definitely enjoyed dinner tonight, there’s a reason this is called a cheat meal: it doesn’t happen often. Nor should it.
