Oh man what an afternoon!!! I mean, how could you complain when you spend it here!?
My parents came into town this morning for a visit, but also to go at a recently fallen oak tree on a friend’s property! My dad uses this wood for some of his hobbies so I know he was more than excited!
As my parents were doing their thing, I was driven a route up in the mountains near my friends that I have been looking forward to for weeks! 6.0 miles is crazy hills? Count me in!!! Most people hate hills with a passion, but I love them! I’m actually less of a fan of downhills because I end up getting a side stitch and my quads hurt from all the pounding!
This course did not disappoint. I mean look at that elevation!!! (in the green)
I knew this was going to be a tough route just from the drive (when you hear a truck go through lots of gears you know something’s up; get it? haha…ok…) but man! No words can describe!! Hah!!! I actually ran 90% of the route and walked a few of the uphills towards the end, but the rest of it was all running!
But I think that when you have views of the mountains like this the entire way, there is nothing to complain about!
If you focus on things like that it makes the run go by so much faster!
And if you combine that with windy roads, it helps keep your mind occupied!
I can’t wait to get back here again!!!
I’m on a mission to run the route in less than an hour at some point…whenever that is. One day! Right!? I’ll summon my inner Janae since she’s a beast in the distance categories and going to conquer those hills in Boston! If she can do it, so can I!!!
By the time I finished (1:06 later) I was more than ready for some food! I ate a banana before we left around eleven but didn’t run until almost one and was famished when we got back to town just after three! I know I’ve talked about the bakery bread I get in town, so of course I couldn’t deprive my parents of that luxury and decided to get sandwiches from there! We all got their veggie medley, in various mixes, and min included: avocado, cucumber, onion, tomatoes, sprouts and mustard. My mom brought some of these awesome sweet potato chips that I totally stuck IN my sandwich…what can I say, I like things with a crunch. It’s like burgers; I used to stick my fries in them too! Haha! Ok, call me crazy…
I ate an orange afterwards since my AH box was chock full of them, and I have so many more from weeks before, before bidding adieu to my parents and finally getting a shower. It was kinda ridiculous how cold I was, sitting there eating lunch, but I was hungry and that comes first! Besides, that’s why I have a heater…and since I normally don’t crank it up more than 62 I upped it for once…68 it is! haha!
I was reading blogs when that run got the best of me and the next thing I knew I was passed out on the couch…any bets on what time I’ll go to bed tonight, after taking a nap at 6.30-7!? Uh yeah…if anything, I woke up hungry!
I have an abundance of organic kiwis I’ve sadly been neglecting and got to them tonight! One down…god knows how many to go!
Then it was time for the main course: SALAD BEAST! I topped a bed of greens with a huge organic carrot, tomato, Persian cucumber, leftover roasted veggies, a roasted Portobello mushroom and 5 TJ’s meatless meatballs. A bit of Italian dressing went on top of it all.
Now I’m snacking on some chocolate chips and diving into this lovely new cookbook! Can you believe I don’t have it in my collection!? My mom found it at a Borders that was going to be closed so it was on sale and I had to have it!
