As a former vegetarian, I think that it was actually fairly difficult to get all the nutrients I needed, but it's just a matter of being creative and smart. I think vegetarianism is totally doable and wonderful--not to mention that it helps you avoid some of the health risks of eating meat, such as the environmental pollutants that are now beginning to infiltrate the fish and livestock industries, as well as unnecessary hormone-injected meat.
