WHAT ARE SOME VEGETARIAN ALTERNATIVES TO FISH OIL SUPPLEMENTS?

Posted Feb 15 2011 7:50am

Question by Moolay:
What are some vegetarian alternatives to fish oil supplements?

I am a dancer and would normally take a fish oil supplement or just eat fish for my joints and all that. But now that I am vegetarian, I am looking for animal-friendly options to get the same benefits for dancing. Suggestions? Anyone found something that really works?

You take fish oil for the Omega 3 fatty acids, right? You can also get fatty acids from flax seed oil. Honestly, though, you will get more mileage out of stretching exercises than anything you could eat.

If you are referring to omega-3′s,then you can get that from flax seeds or flax seed oil.

I am not quite sure why you are eating fish or taking fish oil supplements for your joints. If it is for the Omega 3 Fatty Acids alternatives are Flaxseed, Flaxseed Oil, Walnuts, Soybeans and cooking with soybean oil. Other than that there is a supplement called Prevention Joint Health Vegetarian Glucosamine 1500mg. If you want you can get it at www.drugstore.com.
