TVP Vegetable Protein?

Posted by Momma Risko

What is its primary use?  Can you use it as a substitute for breadcrumbs?

No. That is unless you want something crunchy enough to break teeth on with no flavour.

To use marinate in hot veggie boullion, season and use in place of ground beef (Ugh !), or add a handful dry to soups and sauces to boost protein. Nutritionally it resembles tofu. Great for camping and backpacking does not need refrigeration and keeps indefinately.

I use it for chili - not too bad and a good source of protein.  Also, as previous post states, I like it for hiking.
