Welcome to this edition of Physical Fitness Friday! Today's topic is Cycling! I am definitely a fan! I've taken quite a few spinning classes at the gym and it's by far one of my favorite cardiovascular activities! I look forward to getting a new bike soon, so I can take to the trails! So, let's delve a little deeper into this exercise to discover the health benefits of cycling!
Cycling gives the body a fast and energetic workout. It shapes, tones and firms the thighs, calf muscles and pelvis region. Some studies report that cycling is one of the few exercises assists in reducing cellulite from the thigh region. There is also less stress on the knees and ankles while cycling. It also helps develop the abs to a certain extent.
Since cycling is primarily an aerobic activity, your heart, blood vessels and lungs all get a workout. It causes you to breathe deeper, perspire and experience increased body temperature which will improve your overall fitness level.
Other reported benefits are:
Manage weight Heighten energy levels Manage pain Assist in reducing stress, anxiety and depression, through both the physical activity and the pleasure and satisfaction of riding a bike.
