Welcome to this edition of Talk To Me Tuesday!
So, the question of the day is: What are some of the best foods to eat to kick the cold and flu bug?
Well, we all know the key to optimum health and avoid getting sick at all is plenty of water, rest, exercise and a clean diet. However, with the many toxic elements in the air, you can still fall victim to an occasional cold or flu, but if you are taking the best possible care of yourself on the inside, the elements outside don't have much of a chance. I would say I get a slight cold maybe once a year now and it usually only lasts for about two days and I treat it with rest, drink lots of alkaline water and eat fruit. Fitnessmagazine.com prescribes the following remedies as well
Full of zinc, which is vital for maintaining a healthy immune system. Think brown rice with vegetables.
They contain vitamin B6, which helps our bodies fight infection.
Capsaicin, an active ingredient in this spice beats congestion by thinning the mucus in your nasal passages so we can breathe freely again. (I know many people that put a dash of cayenne in water and drink daily in the morning).
One of the best sources of beta-carotene (a form of vitamin A), which our bodies need to make enough white blood cells to fight off infection.
Allicin, an active components in freshly crushed garlic, helps zap viruses by blocking the enzymes that lead to infection.
The above are all foods that you can incorporate into your diet daily to keep those nasty cold and flu bugs away!
