We spent 3 days in Burlington, mostly just spending time with family. Once again, the weather was fabulous! Folks, I believe spring has finally sprung!
One of my favorite café’s to visit when we are in Southeast Iowa is the Ivy Bake Shoppe. I worked there for a summer while teaching, and now I love it even more! One of my favorite things about The Ivy is that they buy local! Martha, you are an amazing woman!
I got to catch up with a good friend while enjoying great food. Win-win!
The first rule at The Ivy is to eat dessert first. Okay, maybe not the whole thing, but I can’t just sit there and wait for my food with dessert in front of my face (who can?!). Truth be told, many people visit The Ivy just for desserts.
On this particular day, there was one dessert I had my eye on – apricot cheesecake bars.
Lunch? Yes, I ordered lunch too. A half veggie sandwich on whole wheat with pesto mayo. Delish!
Served with a greek orzo salad – although I was really tempted to get the sweet potato fries (which are baked, not fried). I could have easily gotten this salad as my meal – orzo, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, feta cheese and spices. Mmmm!
Can’t forget the pickle either! FYI: I am a pickle fanatic. ‘Nuff said.
We enjoyed our time in Burlington. We spent time with Micah’s family, and some of my family and more importantly, time with each other! We really needed that and I’m sad that our spring break is over. But we have summer to look forward to – just 11 weeks to go for me (8 weeks for him). Love this guy!
