Some dreams just take a little longer to come true.

Posted Feb 06 2013 8:19am

Since the New York City Marathon cancellation in November, I’ve anxiously awaited communication as to whether or not we’d be granted a spot to run the 2013 edition of the race. I’ve dreamed of that marathon ever since I laced up my first pair of running shoes and I really want my chance to run it. However, the more and more I thought about it, running NYC in 2013 was nearly an impossible plan for me.

Patrick and I had decided before the marathon’s cancellation that we’d run the 2013 Ironman 70.3 Miami. It happens to be the weekend before the marathon. That wasn’t going to work.

Then New York Road Runners announced that 2012 participants had the option to run the 2013, 2014 or 2015 marathon.

My first reaction was, PERFECT! Patrick has a guaranteed spot in the 2014 race due to his entry being “not accepted” 3 consecutive years in the lottery. Patrick and I could run it together in 2014!

Then I remembered a plan we’d made for November of 2014… a 140.6 kind of plan.  While I’m always up for a challenge, the New York City Marathon and my first Ironman in the same month is a crazier idea than I’m even willing to entertain.

On top of all of that, we have a little wedding going on right in the middle of the mix ;-)

That left me with one option, 2015.

NYC Marathon Resolution

Registering for a race in 2015 seems all kinds of crazy to me but, me and that marathon have something to settle.

Like I said before, one day, when the time is right , I will run NYC. It seems that the right time is 2015.
