Rock ‘n Roll St. Pete Training: Week 4

I hope you all had a wonderful New Years celebration! I unfortunately spent mine home sick with food poisoning. While I had big plans for a ginger ale toast at midnight with my wonderful and caring fiancé, I passed out long before the ball dropped. A super big thank you to Patrick for also giving up his New Years Eve to take care of me.

On a brighter note, my training last week went much better than my NYE plans did.

I flip-flopped last Sunday and Monday and made the other 6 planned workouts for the rest of the week. Monday was my long run from last week that I carried over.

Then I did an easy 5 on Thursday morning. The weather was a bit chilly but perfect. I really enjoyed that run.

This snazzy new Garmin was my Christmas present from Patrick! It’s a multisport GPS watch that tracks swim, bike and run. I’m still figuring out all of the features but I’m already in love.

Friday I spent pretty much all day with a friend running errands and taking classes at the gym. I have to admit, it was nice to spend the entire day in gym clothes. I’m pretty sure it was the first time I’ve ever done Pilates on the mat. I was terrible. During “Roll like a Ball” I rolled over onto my neck into some “cloud”-like variation and got stuck there.  After I Houdini-ed my way out of the world’s most awkward pose, I got a serious case of the giggles… Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be becoming a regular.

My pace on Sunday’s 5k was a little slower than my goal pace. I wasn’t feeling too hot (I now know why) but still managed to enjoy it and push myself the best I could.

Monday

  • 9 miles (9:50 pace)

Tuesday

  • REST – Christmas Day!

Wednesday

  • Personal Training

Thursday

  • 5.25 mile “easy” run (10:13 pace)

Friday

  • Classic Pilates
  • Abs
  • Zumba

Saturday

  • Ultimate Challenge

Sunday

  • 5k run (9:13 pace)

I’m currently pulling my goals and race calendar together for the New Year and I should be able to share it later this week! Hope you are all off to a wonderful 2013!
