Paris Marathon Training: Week 6

Posted Jan 14 2014 1:17pm

Another crazy week of weather here in Florida. As you can tell by my dramatic change in wardrobe from Tuesday’s run to Sunday’s run. We started the week in the 30s…

and ended the week in the upper 70s with 100% humidity.

I’m not complaining. I’m really nailing down this “train in all conditions” thing.

Running this week was amazing. Tuesday’s run was the best I’ve felt during a tempo run yet. It was only 39 that morning so the cold helped! I also did 800s for the first time on Thursday. I loved them. Really loved them! And I was able to stay in my goal pace for the 4 sets, with Meg’s help. My long run also felt easy for the first time in a long time.

Cycling on the other hand, didn’t feel so easy. Sunday’s ride was really tough for me. We were battling the Ft. DeSoto headwind and my legs had just had enough. I guess that’s to be expected during my first week of 2x speed work. Either way, I got it all done.

Monday: 3 mile run (8:58 pace) / Personal Training
Tuesday: 6 mile tempo run. Tempo miles @ 8:43, 8:45, 8:31, 8:49.
Bike Trainer: 20 miles(19.3mph)
Wednesday: REST
Thursday: Run 5 miles - 1/2 mile repeats at 3:55, 3:55, 3:59, 3:55.
Friday: Swim 1500 (35:29)
Saturday: 11 mile Clearwater bridge run – 4x bridges (9:46 pace)
Sunday: Bike 28.5 miles (17.7 mph)

On Sunday night I put together a little boot camp style workout at the park for some friends. It was such a beautiful night!

We had a lot of fun enjoying the great weather and sunset. We’re trying to make it a regular Sunday thing. Just hoping for more cooperation from the weather!

I’ve really enjoyed this training so far. Every week I look at my schedule and think, “how in the world am I going to do that?”. And every week I surprise myself a little. I am very much looking forward to the weeks ahead.
