How precisely does getting vegetarian save animals? Animals being killed is a fait accompli. ?

So how will not consuming them make any distinction.

I am a vegetarian, so I am not mocking any person, I just want to know how all of this works out.

It really is a (not-so) silent type of protest. Being a vegetarian or vegan is a private rejection of meat, but on the complete it does not genuinely save animals.

I guess if there are millions of folks who refuse to eat meat for what ever cause, the demand, and as a result the supply, might possibly go down a bit, though.

Given that there is less demand for the slaughter of animals, they do much less. Though being vegetarian does tiny to no additional help for animals. Milk is straight linked to the veal industry, and laying hens are treated horribly.
