Bonjoir, blogworld! My premier post will detail my foray into creating fresh, DIY hummus (having tired of the store-bought derivatives).
To begin, I chopped fresh garlic cloves and then in a separate blender pureed organic chickpeas, fresh lemon juice, and tahini. I then added in the chopped garlic.
Breaking in the new Ninja chopper/blender, which exceeded all expectations.*
I then pureed EVOO with fresh parsley and drizzled it over the hummus.
All in all, quite delicious! (AND amazingly simple). Next time I will use a little more garlic and seasoning, but not bad for my first go around.
Here is the basic recipe:
3 garlic cloves1/4 cup fresh lemon juice1 19oz can of chickpeas/garbanzo beans2 tablespoons of tahini1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oilhandful of parsleysea salt to taste
You can also sprinkle a little paprika or cumin on top, if you want to spice it up a little!
*Note: The top plastic part of the blender later started shredding, much to my dismay. Would’ve been fantastic if it weren’t for the cheap parts…
