Bee-Free Honee Giveaway

Posted Mar 14 2011 10:02pm

While I can’t say I miss honey, I do have a few fond childhood memories of the sticky sweet stuff. There were the many Sunday mornings my grandpa mixed a little peanut butter and honey in a teacup and let me eat it with a spoon for breakfast, or there were various fruit-themed festivals my mom took me to where we stood for a little too long picking out flavored honey straws (most of which ended up crystallized in her purse, I’m quite certain)…

Perhaps it was a little dose of nostalgia, but all my product review protocol flew out the window on this one . As soon as I found the package from Bee-Free Honee in the mailbox I ran inside, ripped it open, and grabbed for my husband, son, and a piece of bread. What the?!.. “It’s vegan HONEEE!” So that day my 3 year old learned a new word: honey.

Wow is this stuff good! It’s sweet and sticky, just like I remember honey being, but better. Can I say better? I think it’s better. Anyway, Bee-Free Honee is made from apples and a touch of cane sugar and lemon juice for consistency. The Honee does finish with a slight twist of apple, but I really think if I hadn’t told everyone I gave a taste that it was made from apples they’d have had no idea it wasn’t honey. The consistency is just perfect.

According to their site, you can use Bee-Free Honee in any way you would use honey, including in recipes. So far I haven’t been much more adventurous with it than as a topping, but it does make for one amazing peanut butter and honee sandwich! My 3 year old loved a little drizzled on his toast, so much so that he remembered to request it after only trying the stuff once! Even if your kids aren’t vegan, it’s great for younger children who couldn’t otherwise have honey due to botulism concerns.

If you can’t tell, we’re huge fans of Bee-Free Honee. I knew as soon as I tasted it that I would be purchasing a bottle when ours ran empty and I highly recommend trying it out. Bee-Free Honee is available through Amazontheir site , or at various health food stores (so ask yours if they carry it!).

You could even win a bottle of Bee-Free Honee here, because the creator was kind enough to send me an extra bottle to give away to one lucky reader! I can’t say I’m not sad to see that extra bottle go, but with a little slap of, “Get over it, Keri. You can buy more,” I think I’ll be alright. Here’s how to enter:

Please leave separate comments below for each entry.  I use a random number system to select the winner, so if you only commented once with a list, it will only count once.  You complete  as many of the entries as you wish.  The giveaway is open to U.S. only on this one, because my budget for shipping isn’t so high this month.  If you’re under 18, be sure you have your guardian’s permission to give me your shipping address, should you win.  The winner will be randomly selected on Monday, March 21th, 2011 at 11 PM EST, so be sure to get your entries in by then.  I will contact the winner via the email used to comment, as well as leave a brief note at the top of this post indicating the winner.  Good luck!
