We wouldn't be surprised if the names Michael Weiss of Austria and Heather Wurtele of Canada might not be familiar to you.
Both triathletes turned in dominant and winning performances today to get on the top of the podium at the inaugural Ironman race in St. George, Utah.
They, along with almost 2000 other athletes, started the Ironman race in chilly 58 degree water conditions at Sand Hallow Reservoir.
But with four very notable triathlons taking place this weekend besides this new Ironman race including:
1) Escape from Alcatraz
2) Avia Wildflower Triathlon Festival
3) St Croix 70.3
The professional field of well know triathletes is spread pretty thin among the various triathlons.
Plus, notable hometown (our hometown) triathletes :
and now last week's St Anthony winner Cameron Dye are all in Boulder training this weekend.
Ironman St. George is being touted as one of the toughest Ironman races in the world with windy bike conditions and a hilly run course.
