"Now that was a long day," that's how Lance Armstrong begins the post race video of Stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia while driving in a car after the stage.
Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer both look pretty shattered after the day's stage that saw Leipheimer's chances for a win at this year's Giro race fade from serious possibility.
“I was not as strong as those guys, it is plain and simple,” Leipheimer said at the finish line.
"Carlos Sastre (Cervélo TestTeam) surged out of the anonymity of the
peloton Monday with a dramatic stage victory in a grueling, seven-hour
march across the Apennines to re-energize his hopes of overall victory
at the Giro d’Italia."
