Video: Florida triathlete battles back to race from near-death collision

Posted Nov 03 2010 10:36am

Tellez You may recall THIS horrible story that we reported last year. As you may remember Florida triathlete Miguel Tellez was involved in a terrible collision with a SUV while leading the bike portion of a triathlon in Key Biscayne, Florida.

Fast Forward to this past weekend and Miguel Tellez was back from the almost dead, and racing in Miami at this weekend's 70.3 triathlon.

According to :

"Tellez broke his wrist, his elbow, his helmet, he suffered a concussion, tore an ACL and MCL and needed stitches on his head and legs.

"I was actually very happy that day," he said. "Because I was happy to be alive."

Tellez could barely move for 3 months. And despite the physical and mental trauma, the first thing he wanted to do was get back on his bike and ride."

Which he did because of a slot for the race he got through the Blais foundation.

But why not just watch as Tellez tells the rest of his inspiring story below in his own words.
