Who would have thought that a political campaign can be just like a sprint triathlon, but according to the newly minted junior senator from Massachusetts, Scott Brown, that's exactly what it is.
"I treated this campaign like a sprint triathlon,” Brown recently told the New York Times. “You have to be good in everything, 18, 19 hours a
day. We were just out there cranking.”
Perhaps a better analogy might be an Ironman triathlon Scott, especially if you plan on a 18 to 19 hour day...just saying.
But of course we kid the honorable Senator elect from Massachusetts.
If his most recent results from the 2009 Massachusetts State Sprint Triathlon are anything to go on he'd easily crush an Ironman course in well under 19-hours.
At the 2009 sprint triathlon Scott finished first in his age-group and 5th overall in a time of 1:02:27.
He swam the 1/3 mile swim in 9.24, biked the 10-mile course in 29.35 and ran the ran the 3.1 mile run in 20.55.
That's very respectable for a guy in the 50-54-year-old age group.
