Triathlete Hunter Kemper takes 4th place at the annual 2010 Disney Half Marathon

Posted Jan 09 2010 9:20am

There are a lot of words that could be used to describe the annual Walt Disney World Half and Full Marathon weekend but cold, or very cold, is seldom used...until this year.

With temperatures in the thirties, the thousands of runners that took on today's 2010 Disney Half Marathon were dressed more for Michigan running than Orlando, Florida racing.

So when the snow settled...OK there was no when the dust settled Chad Johnson of Michigan had won the race in a time of 1:07:2 with triathlete Hunter Kemper finishing a respectable fourth place in a time of 1:09:12.

On the women's side of the chilly Disney Half Marathon it was Emily Mortensen who won in a time of 1:20:58.

You can get complete results for the pro and amatuer runners of the 2010 Disney Half Marathon HERE.

According to the Miami Herald:

"Race director Jon Hughes said the marathon's extensive volunteer medical staff of nearly 1,000 doctors, nurses and other personnel are ``on full alert.''

Hughes said the coldest Disney he can remember is when it dropped from 30 to 28 at the start during one of the early years.

"Same as we have now,'' Hughes said. "Frost conditions and all.''
