This morning before swim practice I had a little talk with my appendages. I submitted a formal apology for all the beating they've been taking - "they" being my arms and legs. I promised them that if they could just get through today tomorrow would be an easy day - just get through today (of course I left out the fact that Saturday would be a BIG day again - SHHHH! :).
They obliged. They got me through a tough, fast swim (in which yet ANOTHER speedster joined our lane at masters - GEEZ!) and then a 40+ mile bike ride. And although I was pretty tired during my swim, I actually felt very strong on the bike. Yes, that biking is certainly coming around.
And so it goes. I'm entering that period where my body is just tired. Tired from training hard week in and week out. Tired from hard bike workouts where I nearly puke at the end (I came very close on Tuesday) and hard run workouts where my wheels just about fall off (or in the case of yesterday, DID fall off) and long runs and long bikes and super long swims (the other day just a PART of my main set was repeat 800s - ouch).
BUT, but - this is my favorite time. The time when you can feel your body getting stronger and although you may be pretty tired and it takes a while to warm up (okay, it takes a very long time to warm up) you know just a little rest and you will be rearing to go. Yep, hard training is my favorite!
And in other news, Route 28 is up to it's evil ways again. Construction. As in Route 28 North is CLOSED (yep, closed) between Etna and Highland Park Bridge. Something about the bridge falling apart or something. HUH! I only saw it crumbling like once! ;) So far the traffic hasn't been disasterous but I'm suspicious. I have a nice little "shortcut" going on because the official detour they provided is dumb and requires going over multiple bridges. I'm worried though that my shortcut is going to soon become another construction zone. Bugger. I might have to quit my job and never go into Pittsburgh again if this is the case. :)
I can't believe tomorrow is already Friday! Time sure does travel fast. My next race will be here before I know it. YAHOO! Time for all that hard work to pay off.
Have a great night everyone!
