i've already used that title apparently, perhaps a more appropriate title is "Time Flies When You're Having Fun and Training Hard!" Much better. I can't believe it's already December. I have been loving west coast training. Although the weather as of late has been far from west coast...SUNNY, DRY !! :) ...and cold... but i can deal with that as long as I'm getting my share of vitamin D! :) Pat's been workin us nicely lately! The weeks fly by as it seems that I have no time until sunday! I wouldn't trade it though.
Last weekend I went to Penticton with Pat as speakers at a coaching conference. The people there were really nice and really took in what I had to say which is nice...nothing worse than i tough crowd! I even got a few chuckles from my lame jokes which was a treat! :) I even managed to get some quality training in. As pictured below...an athletes hotel room :
I managed to get 3 solid hours of trainer riding between the beds! haha also 2 swims in the smallest, hottest most crowded pool ever! No more complaining about CWP..EVER! I also had a great run friday evening on a path along a river. I ran out 30mins thinking "geez i feel good..is this downhill? nope...hmm i must just be awesome :)" then i turned around...OH! haha biggest headwind ever! It actually blew my leg behind the other when i was turning around and i nearly stacked it! haha I had 20 mins steady state and 2 x 8 mins tempo into that wind...and i still positive split from my warm up on the way out! haha but it was good fun! except that it was evening and like -10C so the wind kinda hurt...and i forgot running tights so i had to tuck flared Lululemon pants ino my socks...nice...glad i was in Penticton not Vic! No pictures of that run thank god! It was a quick in n out trip but well worth it. I was happy to help TriBC as they have helped me right from the beginning!
So far training this week has been awesome! I swam with the national swimmers early monday morning..5.5k with less than 10 seconds rest the whole way..nothing like getting in over your head! Popped home for a quick nap then ran 22k with a steady state piece. I was getting a bit bored with 25min left so i decided to see how long i could run with my eyes closed... LOL! I ran straight across the trail into a ditch! Up to my knees in mud! Luckily no one was watching so i could laugh at myself and run away...wont do that again! haha. Then I went straight to the gym for strength. After that I finally got to bring the care packages I made up to he shelter downtown. It was a bit of an anticlimax.. i got swarmed immediately and my packages were gone in a second with dozens of more people asking for more :( I'll have to go back to the drawing board and collect some more instead of buying everything!
Today we started with a crazy core strength session (Pat was mean to us ;) then solid swim then a trainer ride and off to the chiro for a quick fix for my hip that i tweeked during core. Then home for 45min with a 30min catnap :). In the afternoon we ran at the lake for about an hour. Lauren and I had a great tempo piece then it was off to a relaxing yoga class! I'm surprised by the amount of energy i have today compared to last tuesday where i came home after running and lay on the floor on a yoga mat in the kitchen while my mom dropped food in my mouth. haha Adaptation?...well it worked! haha
Here are a few pictures of extra curricular activities in the last while... been baking up a storm! Team sushi night and decorating the Christmas tree! I love Christmas!
