A new Irish iron distance race draws on Irish mythology for inspiration.
Introducing Éireman www.eireman.org 23rd August 2009 Location is Courtown Harbour, Co. Wexford, Ireland. Entry limit 1,500 - now OPEN
We have done something quite unique. We have incorporated Irish Mythology and Triathlon together to create this unique race.
winner of the Male & Female race will be 'crowned'. Yes, they will
be crowned in a lavish ceremony at the finish line by Druids and be
called Éireman 2009. You'll have to see it to believe it!
4 races including:
Long distance - 2.4m swim, 112m bike, 26.2m run Middle distance - 1.2m swim, 56m bike 13.1m run INTRO - Team of 3 - 6 covering the Long Distance Éireman Warrior Kids race (22nd August)
Courtown Harbour is on the east coast of Ireland. 2 hrs from Dublin Airport and 1 hr from Rosslare Europort.
course has potential to be very fast.... The swim is in a sheltered
bay. The cycle is on CLOSED roads. This closed road is a two yr old
Duel Carriageway in mint condition. There are no major hills at all.
Strong cyclists will eat this up. The run is flat and scenic. It starts
off through an old Irish wood, takes in some country roads and then
around a neighbouring town (Gorey).
This could be just the course for a PB!!!
All the Facilities from the BIG races you'd expect will be onhand (and maybe more) to make this a memorable race
Hope to see some of you guys over there.
'Next Summer for the first time in nearly 1,000 years someone is going to be crowned Éireman....'
