The battle for business leaders: CEO Challenges vs. Ironman Executive Challenge
Posted Mar 06 2009 2:03pm
Earlier this week we reported that the World Triathlon Corporation has started a new CEO challenge called the Ironman Executive Challenge.
This new WTC business for business leaders is very similar, perhaps identical word be a better word, to the Boulder, Colorado based CEO Challenges. Now Ted Kennedy, the CEO of CEO Challenges has issued this statement:
"A number of you have contacted us about Ironman Corp (WTC)' s Executive Challenge. I would like to let you know that this program has no relation to CEO Challenges, and we were not compensated in any way despite the fact the program is incredibly similar to the CEO Ironman Challenge program that we created and hosted since 2001.
Unfortunately, WTC decided to use almost the exact wording that we use on our event announcement pages, and therefore there is quite a bit of confusion regarding the two programs. Please note however, that virtually the ONLY difference is that we build in a charity contribution on behalf of each competing CEO, and they do not. We feel contributing to charity as part of the program is very important, and know that contributions made on behalf of the CEOs has made an incredible difference to challenged athletes and people suffering from ALS and Prostate Cancer.
As you know, CEO Challenges is not owned by a large corporation. Anyone that has participated in our events understands how much we love doing what we do, and meeting and supporting the CEOs and their families.
Therefore, it would mean a great deal to Shawna, Simon and I if you would look at signing up for one of our events this year. You can see the complete schedule at www.ceochallenges.com/calendar.
