Simple Acts of Kindness...

Posted Dec 06 2010 9:11pm

As you know I am hosting another Mean People Suck Giveaway  for December. I really love hearing about all the good deeds that you are doing or planning to do. I hope I am being even a little bit of an inspiration. But, I realized that I need to post some of my own acts of kindness and plan to do so as much as possible. I have three for today:

Today, I went to visit my dad while he was having dialysis. Dialysis can be long (4 hours), tiresome, depressing and outright boring. My dad has to go to dialysis three times a week, every week. I know that I brighten up his day when I come in to visit him during his time there. I know I am lucky to have this time with him because recently he had a pretty big health scare. I will cherish every moment that I have with him.

In other family news, I brought my mom an ice coffee at home because I heard she was sick. She just has a sinus infection but thought it would cheer her up. It did.

Finally, today I gave a coworker a shoulder to cry on and a much needed hug. A crazy and stressful our lives can be, it is important to step back and think of others, a kind word can mean a lot.
