Rumor: Lance Armstrong and/or team Astana to race Tour of Gila next week in New Mexico

The Tour of Gila almost didn' t happen this year due to lack of sponsorships.
The 5 day New Mexico stage race has been around for over two decades but it was not until SRAM stepped in this year to become the title sponsor that the race could official be held again.
In September of last year Lance Armstrong became a technical adviser to SRAM when he invested several million dollars in the Chicago based bike component manufacturer. That' s why Armstrong currently rides a Trek with SRAM components instead of his longtime Shimino equipped Trek
Astana, his current pro team, is not currently signed up to race the Tour of Gila. Armstrong himself has not said he is racing the Tour of Gila which starts next week.
Other American professional teams like BMC and Armstrong' s own Livestrong team are signed up to race the tour.
These are the facts.
The rumor that' s bouncing around the cycling world is that Armstrong and possibly Astana, will race in this year' s tour.
While team Astana and Armstrong are not signed up---as far as we know to do the race. It would not be unheard of for race officials to allow a late entry for either Astana or Armstrong himself given that "his" company SRAM is sponsoring, and in fact saved the race, from not being contested this year.
You can see how these sort of rumors can get started.
Will Armstrong and/or Astana race in New Mexico next month?
