Potts, Reed, and Kemper ready to rumble at Dextro Energy Triathlon

Posted Jun 19 2009 3:37pm

This weekend promises to be a great showdown in the world of triathlon with many of the top American triathletes in great form racing at the Dextro Energy Triathlon in Washington D.C.

Both Andy Potts and Matt Reed have had a great race season winning almost every race they' ve entered.

Hunter Kemper looks like he might be back to form after coming back from injury.

All three Americans will be taking on the best male short course triathletes from Europe and around the world on Sunday.

“It’s great for the sport, it’s getting more professional now and it’s going to be fantastic racing,” says Reed of the new Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship. “It’s got the best athletes in the world concentrating on this one series.”

“I am fit and fast and ready to race D.C.,” continued Reed, 33. “I am happy with where I am at in the season and am looking forward to the fun, fast racing in Washington.”

According to Universal Sports:

"However, Reed won’t commit to predicting an outcome. “It is a World Championship, so you never know (what will happen). Andy and I might break away shortly into the bike leg, get a 1 minute, 30 second lead and run shoulder to shoulder for the win. Now wouldn’t that be cool?”

Washington will be Potts’ first Dextro Energy Triathlon - ITU World Championship race, and he is enthusiastic about the hype and publicity that the series brings to triathlon."
