Police find Zabriskie's stolen car and arrest one suspect

Posted Mar 03 2009 2:06pm

Zx1 There has been a significant break in the David Zabriskie burglary case.

Police in Salt Lake city have found Zabriskie' s stolen Scion and arrest one man in connection with the crime.

As you may recall Zabriskie was racing at the Amgen Tour of California to a second place finish with the Garmin-Slipstream team, when thieves broke into his house and stole everything he owned.

According to KLS.com:

"Tuesday night, metro gang officers were in this South Salt Lake neighborhood. They were looking for a fugitive in an unrelated case when they saw Zabriskie' s Toyota Scion parked outside a house. Officers then saw Arthur Roll walk out of the house and get in to the car a couple of times.

Roll had the keys to the stolen car, but when officers searched the home they didn' t find any of Zabriskie' s stolen property. Still, they say Roll' s arrest is a break in the case.

"A lot of times in stolen vehicle cases, burglary cases when a vehicle is taken, you can recover the vehicle, but you don' t actually find somebody that' s linked to the vehicle. So in this case, we' ve at least got a lead to work," said Sgt. Robin Snyder, spokeswoman for the Salt Lake Police Department.

Roll' s arrest last night was his second that day. When officers saw him with Zabriskie' s stolen car, he had only been out of jail for several hours."
