I DID find a few of the race! And just a note, all of these are from my phone, so not the best of quality.
If you've never done Vineman and are curious as to what the scenary looks like, this is a good example of what you see for about 65 of the 70.3 miles. :)
Women's 30-34 AG podium. Woo-hoo - we got wine! Although O and I don't really like wine. :)
The day after the race, I took a nice little ride through the vineyards for one last time (I didn't want to stop!) while Oscar ran and then we packed up and headed down to the San Francisco/Oakland area. We only had one day but could have spent 4 weeks! Still, we really, really enjoyed what we did get to see.
First, we stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge viewing area. Simply breathtaking! We spent quite a bit of time there, just sitting and taking it all in.
I want to ride my bike up this road!
But maybe not up this road... :)
Next we drove through the city on our way to visit Stanford, a place both Oscar and I wanted to see. As a high schooler I dreamed of running for Stanford (one of the best running programs in the nation) but I wasn't fast enough. I can see how this beautiful place produces FAST runners!
We had to see the track!
And I MOST definitely needed a Fear The Tree t-shirt. I think the Cal Bear is definitely afraid... :)
We then headed back to Oakland to our hotel room and then BACK over the Bay Bridge (which goes right through Treasure Island which is SOOO cool and don't they have a triathlon on that island?) to San Francisco for a Giants game. We walked some around the city and the piers and then watched the Giants spank the Dodgers.
There was a parking place for bikes at the ball park!
AT&T Park is really awesome! Nice view of the bay which actually reminds me a lot of PNC Park in Pittsburgh (except overlooking the river instead of the bay... :)
One of the more awesome trips we've had and I feel very lucky that we could stay an extra day to see some new sites!
